Physical Description of Character: Kairi is a normal girl by conventional standards. She has brown, auburn-ish hair with long bangs that she has to sweep to the side of her face from time to time. In the right light her hair can be seen more of a dark wine color than auburn. Her hair touches to her shoulders that she keeps down, never up. Her skin has a soft peach tint to it, though it’s a wonder she’s slightly pale considering as a kid she spent a lot of time out doors. Her eyes are the colors of the ocean, a mixture of dark and light blue with tints of indigo. She stands around 5’3’’ to 5’4’’ depending if she’s wearing flats or a shoe with a heel. This girl has two main outfits. At school she wears a sleeveless white shirt with a blue and white tie, matching blue and white plaid skirt, black shocks and black loafers. Her main outfit seen throughout the gain is unique.

She wears a white lacey top underneath a pink dress that comes with its own hoodie. The straps of the dress are somewhat thick thanks to the hoodie being attached. Along the sides of her bust and middle, traveling down are fully functioning zippers. A Belt with two side straps hang around her hips, allowing her to carry a small black pouch tied with a lilac ribbon. On her left wrist she wears three bracelets, grey, light blue and white—one to represent her and her friends. Around her neck is a necklace with a gold pendent. Finally adorning her feet are white and lilac sneakers with black laces that lace up past her ankles.

Personality: Kairi when someone first meets her will notice right off the bat that she’s friendly. She makes friends easily no matter where she goes (or in some cases thrown into). She is a kind hearted person willing to give someone a second chance, but just because she is kind hearted doesn’t mean she can be taken advantage of. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, but she does it in a tactful manner. After all, no one wants to hear a whiner or be around someone who complains and such. Another personality trait of Kairi’s is her loyalty. No matter what she’ll remain loyal to her friends. If they’re in danger she will risk her safety to help them making her headstrong. She is also stubborn to a point. She doesn’t like to be on the sidelines anymore and wants to do all she can for her friends, especially Sora and Riku. Finally Kairi is a girl who prefers to look at the glass half full rather than half empty. Like her not remembering her original town. She didn’t dwell on her missing memories; rather she looked at the positives of living in Destiny Islands where she met her two best friends Sora and Riku. Though like any other person she has her doubts from time to time and is fearful of something happening to her friends.

In regards to Sora and Riku...though both boys are her best friends, she has mixed feelings about each of them. She cherishes both, but its unclear to her who she...likes. In the beginning she found herself completely devoted to Sora, but now that she's older she doesn't know if those feelings are true or if its something more. Then again she suspects something between both boys. She can't put her finger on it, but there's something there. Either way she would risk her life to protect them because to her both are precious friends she would never want to lose.
History of the Character: Kairi doesn’t remember much, barely anything, before her arrival on Destiny Island where she was adopted by the Mayor. She was five years old when she first met her best friends Riku and Sora. Since then they have been inseparable. Whenever the boys fought with each other with their toy swords she would be cheering for them, though sometimes she would cheer more for one side or the other depending on her mood—it was out of fun, not for affection…well, at the time. When the boys wanted to leave the island to find where she came from Kairi went along with it, she didn’t want to be left behind while her two friends were out on an adventure.

Just when they were ready to leave on their home made raft terrible things happened. Heartless attacked Destiny Islands. Kairi left the mayors house to make sure the raft would be okay and she sensed something was wrong with the island they played on. Unable to find Riku or Sora Kairi fled to the secret cave the boys shared with one another—they weren’t that secretive about it. She began to feel ill as sadness crept into her heart all thanks to the Heartless destroying her home. In the cave she saw the papou drawing Sora drew on the walls, taking comfort in the drawing she waited for either boy to arrive. When Sora got there a huge gust of wind blew her to him, momentarily embracing the boy before Kairi lost consciousness after placing her heart in him—unknowingly. Being a princess her body didn’t turn into a Heartless, instead it vanished reappearing elsewhere for Riku to find.

In Neverland on Captain Hook’s ship Kairi’s body is placed in a room next to Sora’s. Her body momentarily moves since her heart was near. It wasn’t until Sora unlocked his heart that she regained consciousness. By then Kairi had no idea what was going on but seeing her friend she ran to him but with one simple touch his body vanished. Donald and Goofy were there to usher her out of Hollow Bastion but at the first floor there was a shadow heartless that called to her. Kairi immediately knew it was Sora and hugged him, promising she would protect him no matter what. As she embraces him she unknowingly allows Sora to his former state. From there they escaped Hollow Bastion (which turned out to be Kairi’s home world) finding shelter in Traverse Town. Before Sora leaves on his final quest to save the worlds Kairi gave him her good luck charm, making him promise he would return to give it back to her. Sora saves the world Kairi sees Sora one last time on a patch of Destiny Island as the worlds began to restore themselves. She is transported back to Destiny Islands where she waited for him, even going back to the secret cave to draw herself giving a papou to Sora.

During the events of Kingdom Hearts 2 Kairi for a long while forgot about Sora because of Namine trying to restore the boy’s memory. Though Sora’s memory was hidden from her she couldn’t help but feel sad whenever she looked at the old island she used to play on as a little girl. As a normal girl on Destiny Islands she went to school regularly with her friends, including her best gal pal Selphie. Though her mind still wandered back to the boys, Riku and his friend hoping they’re okay. Then one day while walking home with Selphie she had contact with someone named Roxas who turned out to be Sora’s nobody. IN talking to him she begins to remember the boy from her childhood. Soon after she sends out a bottle with a letter in it to Sora hoping he would find it. Upon sending out her letter all her memories flew back.

Weeks later a man by the name of Axel showed up on Destiny Island intent on kidnapping her. He was ready to take her by force when a bark caught her attention, turning around she saw Pluto and ran with him into the darkness that dropped her off in Twilight Town. There she made friends with Hayner, Olette and Pence. Axel continues his quest of kidnapping her to get Sora to come to him and succeeds. In The World That Never Was she begins to lose hope until her nobody Namine frees her from her cell. While escaping she ran into Saiix, but a cloaked figured (Riku) saves the day.

Long story short, after Sora saved the worlds once again he and Riku disappeared. Fearful her friends wouldn’t come back Kairi the only thing she could do at the time…she wrote them a letter, placed it in a bottle and sent it off to them. She waited for them at the beach and tada! They came back, rather they were home and all three best friends were together again.
Magical Powers/Skills: As a princess of Heart Kairi has the power to open the final keyhole to Kingdom hearts in Hollow Bastion once she is gathered with the rest of the princesses, able to hold back darkness and upgrade the power of others. She also has some magical abilities considering she managed to restore Sora back to normal after he became a Heartless. As for combat skills, that would be her weakness. Unfortunately she isn’t able to do much when she is in danger, but when she was given a keyblade by Riku in The World That Never Was she was able to hold her own…somewhat. She has some skills, but with no tutor to develop her fighting skills they won’t grow.
Weapons: Keyblade given to her by Riku, though she doesn’t know she can summon it…yet!
